ACARD Technology Corp. has produced AEC-6895, a four-channel RAID controller, for Serial ATA, the newest storage interface. AEC-6895 has 2 Serial ATA channels and 2 Ultra ATA133 ones. It can connect up to 6 hard drives at the same time; that is, 2 Serial ATA hard drives and 4 IDE ones. The 48-bit LBA (Logical Block Addressing) technology makes it good for big hard drive over 137GB. So, it lets you enjoy the high transfer of Serial ATA 1.5Gbps, and in the meantime read and edit the data reserved in IDE hard drives.
AEC-6895 has the functions of RAID 0, 1, 0+1 and JBOD. The Windows-based RAID Utility provides you a GUI tool to easily manage the RAID subsystem. AEC-6895 also supports 64-bit PCI specifications, including Bus Master to enhance the transfer capability. Moreover, the controller supports Scatter/Gather, which can increase the multitasking effect. Being a highly efficient interface in data transfer and backup, AEC-6895 is fit for PC workstations, servers, etc.
